Emergency HVAC Repair in Northeast Philadelphia
No heat on a January night or no cooling in a July heat wave can’t wait for next week. We provide same-day and emergency service across Northeast Philadelphia, and our trucks carry common furnace, boiler, and AC parts, so most repairs finish in one visit. Every heating call includes a carbon monoxide and venting check.

AC Repair and Installation in Northeast Philadelphia
Rowhome air conditioning works hard. Condensers sit on hot flat roofs or tight rear patios, and ductwork in many older homes was added long after the house was built. We fix warm air, frozen coils, refrigerant leaks, failed capacitors, and outdoor units that won’t start, then check airflow so the repair holds.
When a system is worn out, our AC installation team sizes the new one to your home. See our AC repair service for common problems, or ask about ductless mini splits for rooms the ducts never reached.
Heating Repair and Furnace Service in Northeast Philadelphia
Most Northeast Philly homes heat with a gas furnace or a hot water boiler, and some older homes still run steam or oil. When the heat quits, our technicians find the cause, whether it’s a failed igniter or flame sensor, a pressure switch, a control board, a blower motor, or the thermostat, and fix it on the first visit whenever the parts allow. Every visit includes a venting and carbon monoxide check.
See heating repair and furnace repair for more detail, and when a system is past saving, our heating installation team handles the replacement.
Boiler and Radiator Service for Northeast Philly Homes
Hot water baseboard and cast iron radiators are common in Northeast Philadelphia twins and rowhomes. We service gas and oil boilers, steam and hot water systems, circulator pumps, zone valves, expansion tanks, and low water cutoffs. The calls we take most:
- No heat: the boiler won’t fire or keeps locking out
- Uneven heat: cold radiators or baseboard on one floor
- Noise: banging pipes or a whistling relief valve
- Pressure: gauge readings that climb or drop
- Leaks: water under the boiler or at a radiator valve
You get a written price for the repair, and when it runs close to the cost of a new boiler, the replacement price too. Learn more about boiler repair in Northeast Philadelphia.

Furnaces, Heat Pumps and Ductless Systems
Whatever heats and cools your home, our licensed technicians and NATE-certified specialists repair it, maintain it, and replace it when the time comes.
Gas Furnaces
PGW natural gas heats most of the Northeast. We repair and replace standard and high-efficiency gas furnaces, including Carrier systems, and pressure-test every gas connection before we leave. More on gas furnace repair.
Heat Pumps
Heat pumps work well for homes moving off oil or electric heat. We repair, install, and maintain air-source heat pumps and keep them heating through Philadelphia winters. More on heat pump repair.
Ductless Mini Splits
No ductwork? A ductless mini split heats and cools third floors, additions, and finished basements without opening walls. More on ductless mini split installation.
Repair or Replace? Straight Answers
We give you the repair price and the replacement price side by side, in writing. For furnaces, air conditioners, and heat pumps, consider replacement at 15 years or older, or when one repair costs more than a third of a new system. Boilers are different: the repair cost decides, not the age.
New equipment is sized to your home, based on square footage, insulation, windows, and how well the old system kept up. Most rowhomes only have one or two sensible sizes, so you get a clear recommendation instead of a sales pitch.
Water Heater Repair and Replacement
Tank or tankless, gas or electric. We repair leaking tanks, pilot and burner problems, and failed thermostats, and handle water heater replacement in Northeast Philadelphia with permits and code-compliant installation, usually the same or next day.
Tight basement stairs and old venting are part of the job in many Northeast homes, and our crews plan for both before they arrive.
Heating and Cooling for Northeast Philadelphia Homes
Much of Northeast Philadelphia was built after World War II, and it shows in the mechanicals. In Mayfair, Oxford Circle, and Rhawnhurst rowhomes, the furnace or boiler usually sits in a basement next to the garage off the rear driveway, and AC condensers end up on flat roofs or small rear patios, which makes access and drainage part of every install. Twins and single homes in Fox Chase, Somerton, Bustleton, and Torresdale have more room, but often older ductwork that was never sized for central air.
We’re close by, too. Our Northeast Philadelphia location at 7934 State Road in Holmesburg sits a few minutes from Cottman Avenue and Rhawn Street, so trucks reach most of the Northeast quickly. Businesses along State Road and the river can reach our commercial HVAC in Philadelphia team the same way.
Smell gas? Leave the house and call PGW from outside. Once it’s safe, we handle gas line repair in Northeast Philadelphia, from leak repair to new lines for furnaces, boilers, water heaters, and ranges.
Northeast Philadelphia HVAC FAQs
Yes. Our Northeast Philadelphia technicians work out of our State Road location in Holmesburg, so same-day service is available across most of the Northeast when you call early in the day. For no heat in winter, no cooling in a heat wave, or a system that shut down and won’t restart, tell the office it’s an emergency and we’ll prioritize the call. Trucks carry common igniters, flame sensors, capacitors, motors, and controls, so most furnace, boiler, and AC repairs finish in one visit. Call 215-366-1001 or book online, and you’ll get a written price before any work starts.
Yes. Northeast Philly rowhomes come with their own quirks: equipment in a tight basement, condensers on a flat roof or a small rear patio, ductwork added years after the house was built, and older boilers feeding baseboard or radiators. We repair and replace furnaces, boilers, central air, and heat pumps in rowhomes and twins, and we install ductless mini splits where ductwork isn’t practical, such as third floors, additions, and finished basements. New equipment is sized to your home, and most rowhomes only have one or two sensible sizes, so you get a clear recommendation instead of a sales pitch.
All of them. That includes Mayfair, Holmesburg, Tacony, Wissinoming, Frankford, Oxford Circle, Lawncrest, Castor Gardens, Rhawnhurst, Fox Chase, Burholme, Bustleton, Somerton, Torresdale, Academy Gardens, Parkwood, Morrell Park, and Millbrook, in ZIP codes 19111, 19114, 19115, 19116, 19124, 19135, 19136, 19149, 19152, and 19154. We also serve the rest of Philadelphia and the suburbs just over the city line. Not sure whether your street is covered? Call 215-366-1001 and the office will tell you right away and book your visit on the same call.
It depends on the system. For furnaces, air conditioners, and heat pumps, we suggest replacement at 15 years or older, or when one repair costs more than a third of a new system. Boilers are different: a well-kept boiler can run for decades, so the repair cost decides, not the age. If one repair costs about half the price of a new boiler, or there’s a safety failure such as a cracked section or heat exchanger, flue gas spillage, or a failed draft test, replacement makes more sense. Either way, we give you both prices in writing so you can decide.
Leave the house right away, don’t flip switches or use anything that could spark, and call PGW’s emergency line or 911 from outside. PGW will make the area safe and shut off the gas if needed. Once it’s safe, call us at 215-366-1001: we find and repair the leak, pressure-test the line, and get your furnace, boiler, water heater, or range back in service. Our gas line services page covers leak repair and new gas lines in more detail.
